Atlantis Comes Alive
The most common genres of conceptual art is character art, creature art, item/ prop art, and environmental/setting art. Concept artist usually are very skilled in most categories of this art but specialize in only one or two; during this summative I will be practicing item, environment, and character art but creating a higher number of character concepts as I am sure this will be one of the specialties in the future.
The style of digital art I will be painting would be considered stylized realism with a touch of fantasy and vibrant colors, a digital painter who goes by Astri Lohne inspired my art style
Many skilled artists with digital painting styles I enjoy, teach their viewers the technique of grayscale to color. This technique is when artists start their pieces using only shades, using only shades is easier on the eyes and the lack of color allows the artist to pay more attention to detail and notice larger differences in value. Once they feel their sketch is good enough they edit their desire colors onto the image; with the shades underneath already contoured there is no need for additional shading with the colors. I will be using this technique when creating my art.
The software I will be using is Manga Studio 5 and Photoshop. Manga Studio 5 is a simple and user friendly drawing software that I am very familiar with, it allows users to create high quality art almost to the extent of Photoshop. I have used Photoshop before in the past but I am not very familiar with it, a large majority of conceptual artists use this software for their art as it has thousands of brushes and editing options. By watching tutorials I will learn how to create art better using Photoshop and I intend to move from Manga Studio 5 as early as late November.
The hardware I will be using it my Wacom Cintiq 22 HD drawing tablet, most of my initial rough sketches will be drawn traditionally on paper and be transferred onto my computer so I can
digitize it.
