I frequently draw characters, animals, and props; but I very rarely draw scenes. I had no idea where or how to start so I started following the environmental design tutorial by one of my favorite artists, Ross Draws.
He began with a very simple template laying out the horizon line and other perspective lines. Then simple shapes are made, in my case I already have a pencil sketch so I skipped to his third step, color coding the background, mid ground and foreground. The farther and object was the more faded the blue.
He used a technique where he would take the textures from a photo and he would create a clipping mask; shading was adding on top of it to blend it in with the rest of the drawing.
Ross explains that if someone is working to a company as an artist there are strict deadlines and it is important to be effective, a company does not expect you to meticulously draw every leaf on a tree unless you're the world's best leaf painter.

For now I will keep the lines as a guideline so I can properly see what is going on, I will remove them later in the process.
